Holiday & Scheduling Policy
To allow our staff and families to observe major holidays, interments are not scheduled on the following days:
New Year’s Day, Easter, Mother’s Day, Memorial Day, Father’s Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day.
Hanover Memorial Park reserves the right to decline or reschedule services when necessary due to weather, ground conditions, safety concerns, or other circumstances that may affect the safe and respectful completion of an interment.
What Our Cemetery Services Include
Cemetery Services are necessary to prepare for and complete an interment.
- Locating and verifying the grave location
- Completing required cemetery documentation
- Coordinating with the selected funeral home
- Surveying and marking the grave location
- Removing and replacing an existing memorials when necessary
- Excavation and use of cemetery equipment
- Setup of graveside equipment, including tent, chairs, artificial grass, and lowering device
- Staff coordination on the day of the service
- Backfilling and continued compaction as the grave settles
- Application of topsoil and grass seed after the settling process is substantially complete
Grave settling is a natural process and may continue for approximately 6 to 8 months following an interment.
Please note: Hanover Memorial Park does not have an on-site irrigation or water source. Grass growth and establishment depend largely on natural rainfall and seasonal conditions. Families are welcome to apply additional grass seed to a grave site if desired, provided cemetery rules are followed.
Vault Requirement
Hanover Memorial Park Cemetery requires the use of an approved outer burial container for all applicable in-ground casket interments. Outer burial containers, commonly referred to as burial vaults or grave liners, are placed in the ground before the casket and are intended to support the surrounding earth, reduce ground settling, and help maintain the stability and appearance of the cemetery grounds.
Pre-Need Vault Purchases
Outer burial containers purchased in advance from Hanover Memorial Park may be delivered to and accepted by the cemetery.
Hanover Memorial Park may store delivered merchandise on cemetery property until the time of need.
Third-Party Outer Burial Containers
Outer burial containers purchased from a funeral home or other third-party vendor are the responsibility of that vendor with respect to purchase, transportation, and delivery.
All third-party outer burial containers must meet Hanover Memorial Park Cemetery’s current specifications and are subject to inspection and approval before installation. Hanover Memorial Park reserves the right to refuse any outer burial container that does not comply with cemetery requirements or that cannot be safely installed.
Third-Party Outer Burial Container Fee: $395.00
Fees & Administrative Services
- Administrative Fee — $175 per contract
Applies to the preparation, processing, recordkeeping, and administration of each new cemetery contract. - Transfer of Lot Ownership — $500
Applies when cemetery property ownership is transferred to another individual. - Copies of documents or Letters — $95
Applies to requested copies of cemetery records, account documentation, verification letters, or similar administrative correspondence. - Contract Changes After 3 Days — $175 per person
Applies when changes are requested to a completed contract more than three days after execution. - Cancellation Fee After 120 Days — $825
Applies to eligible contract cancellations requested more than 120 days after the original contract date. - Less Than 48-Hour Scheduling Fee — $295
Applies when cemetery services are requested or scheduled with less than 48 hours’ notice, subject to availability. - Outside Memorial Design Review, Inspection & Placement Compliance Fee — $250
Applies to memorials purchased from an outside vendor and covers design review, inspection, approval, and verification that the memorial meets cemetery placement requirements. - Returned Check Fee — $75
Memorials, Requirements & Installations
Each interment at Hanover Memorial Park Cemetery requires a headstone or memorial that complies with the cemetery’s current Rules and Regulations.
The memorial selection process or date of death should be initiated within 60 days following the burial. To help preserve the beauty and consistency of the cemetery, each family is to select an approved headstone or memorial for their loved one. Memorials should follow Hanover Memorial Park’s current guidelines so that each grave is respectfully honored while maintaining the character and appearance of the cemetery for families today and for generations to come.
Hanover Memorial Park offers on site personalized memorial-design for families select appropriate granite, bronze, lettering, artwork, photographs, and other approved design elements while ensuring the memorial meets cemetery requirements.
Installation Requirements
All memorial installations and related cemetery work must only be performed by Hanover Memorial Park Cemetery to ensure proper placement, foundation preparation, and compliance with cemetery standards and section requirements.
Memorials purchased through Hanover Memorial Park are installed at $1.75 per square inch, plus a $175 foundation fee.
Outside Memorials
Memorials purchased from an outside vendor must meet all cemetery requirements and receive prior design and size approval from Hanover Memorial Park before ordering, delivery, or installation. Outside memorials are subject to additional design-review, inspection, placement-compliance, and installation fees.
Memorials purchased from outside vendors are not insured or guaranteed by Hanover Memorial Park Cemetery.
Additional Charges
Freight, applicable taxes, supplier charges, specialty materials, custom artwork, photographs, additional lettering, and other manufacturer-related costs are not included unless specifically stated in the written estimate or contract.
Memorial Care & Natural Weathering
Memorials are exposed to weather and natural elements and may change in appearance over time. Granite, marble, bronze, and other materials may naturally weather, discolor, or require maintenance as they age.
When cleaning granite, marble, or other stone memorials, only non-toxic, environmentally safe products should be used.
Bronze markers may require refinishing over time at the cost of requesting family. Refinishing may involve removal of the marker. Off-site restoration and can take several months to complete.
All memorial pricing, installation charges, applicable fees, and approval will be confirmed with the family before an order is finalized.
Visitor Rules
By entering Hanover Memorial Park, visitors are expected to respect the cemetery grounds, other families, and the peaceful nature of the property.
- Quiet and respectful behavior is expected at all times.
- Drive slowly and remain on designated roadways.
- Parking on graves or grassy areas is prohibited. Visitors may be responsible for damage caused by unauthorized parking or driving.
- Alcohol, illegal drugs, and disorderly conduct are prohibited.
- Children must be supervised at all times.
- Cemetery grounds are open from dawn to dusk unless otherwise authorized.
- Trespassing after dark is prohibited.
- Littering, loud music, speeding, and disruptive behavior are not permitted.
- Wildlife should not be disturbed.
- Hunting, trapping, or removal of natural materials from the property is prohibited.
- Items that may create a safety hazard, including glass, wire, fencing, and similar materials, are not permitted.
- Food and beverages should not be left at grave sites. This includes candy, drinks, alcohol, cigarettes, and other perishable items.
Additional Cemetery Policies
Unauthorized scattering or burial of cremated remains is prohibited.
Hanover Memorial Park reserves the right to temporarily close or restrict access to portions of the cemetery due to weather, ground conditions, maintenance, safety concerns, or other circumstances affecting the property.
Service times, graveside arrangements, and equipment availability may be adjusted when weather or ground conditions require it.
Tent, grass, and chair use may be limited or unavailable during certain weather conditions, including high winds, storms, or conditions that may create a safety concern.
Natural Environment Notice
Hanover Memorial Park is situated in a natural, rural setting surrounded by wooded areas and wildlife. Visitors may encounter deer, birds, insects, and other wildlife while on cemetery grounds.
Visitors are encouraged to use reasonable care and remain aware of natural conditions while on the property. Hanover Memorial Park cannot guarantee the absence of wildlife, insects, uneven ground, fallen branches, or other naturally occurring conditions.
To help preserve the cemetery’s natural environment, unauthorized pesticide use, tree or vegetation removal, and activities that may damage cemetery property or the surrounding ecosystem are not permitted.
Visitor Safety & Property Notice
Visitors enter and use Hanover Memorial Park Cemetery grounds at their own risk and are expected to exercise reasonable care at all times.
Cemetery grounds are naturally uneven and may include changing terrain, grave settling, monuments, foundations, landscaping, trees, roots, branches, wildlife, insects, wet or slippery areas, maintenance equipment, and other conditions commonly associated with an outdoor cemetery environment.
Visitors are responsible for remaining aware of their surroundings, supervising children, staying on designated roadways and appropriate walking areas, and avoiding cemetery work areas, equipment, open graves, or other restricted areas.
Hanover Memorial Park Cemetery cannot guarantee that the grounds will be free from natural or temporary hazards at all times. Visitors who observe a potentially unsafe condition are encouraged to notify the cemetery office promptly.
Hanover Memorial Park is not responsible for injuries, loss, or property damage resulting from a visitor’s failure to follow cemetery rules, misuse of cemetery property, unauthorized activities, disregard of posted warnings, or naturally occurring conditions beyond the cemetery’s reasonable control.
